Pictures Take 2

Pictures

I think Emma and I need to take more pictures together!!! But she sure has a lot of pictures with her Grandma. They really bonded over the last three weeks.

Emma Update

So the last month has been quite a journey for both me and Emma. Jamey has been working VERY hard to prepare for and start his trial. He's been working every single day, long hours, including weekends. We have been pretty much alone and Emma has definitely been missing her dad! Emma has really grown over the past month - her head and neck muscles are really strong, she loves to sit up or stand and watch the world. She doesn't want anything to pass her by. She smiles all the time and laughs a lot. She also LOVES her hands and is always sucking on them. She isn't interested in chewing on much else. In fact when we put her to sleep we need to make sure her hands are tucked in tight otherwise she will suck on them and it will wake her up. We bought her a Bumbo chair so she can sit in it and watch us. She likes it but it is still new and she is getting used to it. She is 12 lbs and doesn't fit into a lot of 0-3 months clothes anymore. We did lots of laundry yesterday because we took out all her 3-6 months clothes. We can't get over how alert she is and how fast time is going by.

At the beginning of the month Dara came to visit. It was a lot of fun and we did lots of things. One of the things we did was paint Emma's hand and foot print. Dara did the painting and we picked out the colors. Then when Dara left we went to Los Angeles to visit friends and family. We have a great time but unfortunately I got sick and well that is where it all began... I starting not feeling so great on Wednesday March 10 and by Thursday March 11 I was sick. I had a sore throat and just didn't feel good. We left LA on Saturday March 13 and when we were going through security TSA managed to get Emma's car seat stuck in the x-ray machine and we had to buy a new one.

Grandma Marcia came to visit that following Wednesday (she needed one more flight to get a free one) and she was here till Saturday. I was still sick and only get worse. Unfortunately, Emma got sick too with a little cold - she had a stuffy nose and a little cough. We took her to the Dr. to make sure she was OK and the Dr. said she was OK and to monitor her. By the time Saturday came I was full blown sick! So sick I had to go to the doctor. When I went (yes on a Saturday) I was told I have Strep Throat and an Upper Respiratory Infection. What a mess. And, Jamey was going to Monterey for the week leaving me at home with Emma alone. I couldn't do it since I was so sick so we went to Los Angeles so Grandma Marcia could help take care of the little girl. It was so helpful to have the help and I was able to get some rest. We came back to SF this past Friday and we are feeling better. We still are fighting our upper respiratory infections but everyday is better.

We are on the mend and Emma has gotten her first illness. It hasn't been so bad for her or for us so we are lucky.

Jamey's trial finally ended today!!!! Yippee!!!!!!!!!! Emma is very excited to have her daddy back and to play with him. I am happy to have my husband back and to spend some quality time with him! :)

Enjoy the pictures!

More pictures

Auntie Deb made me look so goofy wearing sunglasses! If you look close enough you will see that my right eye is covered with a TAG!! Jeez, Auntie Deb, if you make me look funny the least you could do is let me see myself. :)

I am also having fun in my swing and talking to mommy. She too took a funny picture of me with my mouth open mid-sentence. Silly mommy.

Emma is doing great!

Emma is doing really well. She went to the doctor last week and was 11 lbs and 22 3/4 inches long. She is thriving and is quite a happy baby. She is cooing more and more and we are able to carry on conversations with her.

She had a bunch of visitors last week - Eileen and her Auntie Deb. Her Auntie Deb was here all weekend. Now Emma is gearing up to have a guest tomorrow - Dara - and then when Dara leaves on Monday Emma and I will go to LA for the week while Jamey is in Monterey for his trial. When Auntie Deb was in town Emma went to Terra Mia and got her hand and foot prints imprinted in clay. It will be ready this weekend to paint and we will do that with Dara. Emma definitely misses her Auntie Deb - she had a really nice time with her and loved sleeping on her.

Speaking of sleep, Emma has changed her sleeping habits on us the last few days. Before she was a great little sleeper - she would sleep around 7.5 to 8 hours a night. Now she is waking up at 5:15am to feed and that means she is only doing around a 6 to 6.5 hour stint at a time. Granted she does go back to sleep but it is rough getting up at that time... we were used to getting more sleep. But still, we can't complain, at least we are getting at least 6 hours at a time.

We've been interviewing Nannies and going to Day Cares to see what we are going to do with Emma when I go back to work. One option we are looking into is doing a Nanny share with a woman named Laetitia. Her son is Trystan and he is two weeks older than Emma. They played with one another on the activity mat (see picture) and had a great time.
