Emma's 4 months!

Emma's 4 months!

Emma is 4 months and a week today. She went to the doctor today and got her 4 months vaccinations. She was such a trooper!! She barely cried. We didn't even know that the shots were given that's how good she did. So far she is doing well. She took a long nap and is now playing on her mat. She is running and is slowly checking out her toys. Assuming she's fine tomorrow we are going to go to a music class which will be a lot of fun!

Emma now weighs 13 lbs 1.5 oz and is 24.5 inches tall. We can finally start using the height chart that Uncle Ryan got her. The doctor said her flat head is looking good and that we are doing a good job with helping it round out. We have to continue with tummy torture but she is getting better and better at it so it is less torturess for her.

Emma has started with Laetitia and it has been going OK so far. There is a picture of Emma and Trystan together. They look really sweet together. Emma likes her and smiles at her but the past couple times Emma's had a bit of a hard time with her because Emma has separation anxiety from me. In time she will get to know her and feel very comfortable with Laetitia. Jamey and I feel very lucky that we found Laetitia and know that she will be fabulous with Emma. We are all going over to Laetitia's on Sunday for breakfast and it will be nice. Emma will see us all spending time together and hopefully get more comfortable with her.

Emma really is the cutest little girl. She chuckles and smiles all the time. She also has found her voice and is quite talkative. She likes to carry on conversations with us for quite a while. And everyday she seems to be discovering new things - as stated above she is slowly starting to take her hands out of her mouth and explore and touch toys. She is very alert and observant. She likes it when we read her books, sing songs and she laughs her head off when we do silly dances for her. She is still a little runner and loves pick her feet up in the air and slam them down. Sometimes we wonder if she is going to hurt herself. Also new this week is she discovered her feet. She holds on to them and it is very cute to watch her play with her toes. She still loves taking her baths and we are going to start putting toys in with her... we'll see what she will do with them. She also loves playing peek-a-boo - you can see it on the video - but don't ask me why Jamey moved the camera :) It really is amazing to watch her grow!!

Grandma Marcia is coming to visit for the day next Monday and we are very excited to see her. Then we are all off to Boston/Newport, RI for Cousin Tom's wedding. We are a bit nervous about the plane ride and how she will do with it being so long but we are hopeful. When we get back from the wedding Sunday, May 2, I return to work the next day.

That's it for now. We will upload photos in another post. Enjoy!

Oh - and our Temple stopped by and gave us a congratulatory gift... hence the picture.

Forgot to tell you...

We moved Emma into her own room last weekend. She is now sleeping in her crib for all her naps and at night. I think we had more separation anxiety than she did. She really didn't care. :) We took down the pack n play in our room and now it seems palatial. She sure is growing up fast!

Emma's Obsessed with her hands!!

Emma is still obsessed with her hands. She always has them in her mouth. Even when she is eating she will stop eating to put her hands in her mouth. That is what she will be known for when she asks us what she was like when she was 3 months old.

She loves her activity mat and we have been putting her on it more. It has been a challenge since her head is flat and she can't be on the ground too long but we figured out two different solutions. One is we use the sleep positioner (now in her crib) on the mat to cushion her head or we will fold up a blanket and put her head under it. We can't put a pillow under her because she is so active with her feet she moves herself right off the pillow and bangs her head on the floor. Her new thing the past week or so is she puts both legs up in the air at a 90 degree angle and keeps them there for a bit - plays with the animals and then swings them down. It is very cute.

She is also starting (slowly) to grab some toys and play with them. This is a new development and I am sure we will start seeing more of this in the coming days/weeks. She likes to put them in her mouth to check them out.

Judy and Ed are in town - they have been here since Saturday evening. They have been spending a lot of time with Emma and she has been enjoying it. Ed has taken tons and tons of pictures which is great!! Emma has taken to Judy and she lets her hold her but she cries when Ed tries. She is kinda scared of him. But she is fascinated by him and stares at him and his camera all the time. The weather hasn't been great so we stayed inside all day on Sunday. Hopefully tomorrow - Tuesday will be nicer and we can go for a walk.

April 2 post

I am running out of titles for these blog posts. :)

Emma is doing well. She went to the Doctor yesterday because she had some bumps on the back of her head and we wanted to get them checked out. Turns out they are lymphoids :) The Doctor said that you can feel everything on an infant. She also said that Emma's cold is getting better. Her cough is very slight and her nose isn't as stuffy.

For the first time two days ago, she chuckled when she laughed. It was the cutest thing ever!! She kept doing it. She likes it when I give her raspberries on her tummy and she was laughing up a storm!

Jamey has been home this entire week and both Emma and I have been so happy. He took off work and we have been spending lots of time together. We went to the mall, walked around different neighborhoods and have just spent some quality time together.

Jamey met Laetitia, Daniel and Trystan and went over to their house. Laetitia is going to be taking care of Emma when I go back to work on May 3. I am starting to get really sad and anxious about it but I know that Laetitia will be so wonderful to Emma so that makes me feel really good.

Last Saturday night, the three of us went to dinner with Morris, Melinda and Sara Mintz and it was a disaster!!! Emma cried the entire time and that taught us that we aren't going to take her to dinner anymore. She just isn't great in the evening and it isn't worth it to us. So from now on if guests are in town we are just going to have to bring in dinner unless we leave her at home with a babysitter.

The last few nights Emma has been sleeping a little less than she used to. She was sleeping 8/8.5 hours at night and the last few nights she has been sleeping around 7.5/8 hours. Not that we are complaining but she has switched it up. Hopefully she will be going back to her old routine soon and maybe even sleep longer. :) We are thinking of finally moving her to sleep in her room at night - that might happen this weekend. We will see. We like having her in the room with us - but she is a big girl now.

That's it for now. No new pictures but I will post some shortly.
